Ian Gee, Derek Wrathall, Adrian Legge and Kate Tripp went up Great Gable to pay the respects of The Lakes Flying Company on the centenary of the unveiling of a memorial plaque to the members of the Fell and Rock Climbing Club killed in World War 1. In 1924, the unveiling and an address were carried out by Captain Arthur Wakefield, who was then President of the Club. Arthur was the brother of Captain Edward Wakefield who commissioned the floatplane Waterbird which flew at Windermere 1911-1912.
