In late November 1910, Oscar Gnosspelius tested his hydro-aeroplane Gnosspelius No. 1 just south of Rawlinson Nab. Gnosspelius lived nearby at Silverholme during 1909-1925.

This photo of Rawlinson Rab was amongst those taken on 15 July 1912 by Gertrude Bacon, when she became the first passenger to be flown a complete circuit of the lake.

The photo at the top of this page was taken from Waterhen.

We are very grateful to Graythwaite Estate for permitting us to use their land as a base for trials of the replica Waterbird and the first flying display.
